Post Step-by-step guide
First of all, let me thank you for your interest in this small, but so helpful program (or maybe you have already bought it from Microsoft Marketplace).

I feel eternally grateful to the programmer Ronny Gydar, that he has written this program, because he did it at my request. I was and am a regular visitor to the XDA-Developer site, where I got to know Ronny. There I had expressed my request to write such a program because it would at least relieve me of exceptionally tedious work.

Typical Ronny, he has turned it into a program that can do much more than I had hoped and expected. So I think it is appropriate that I explain at least the main functions more closely.

What can I you use the program for?

Each of you, who works often with a so-called PIM program, e.g. with Outlook, Exchange, Gmail, and others, knows the problem: one has not fulfilled his tasks or appointments on a given day or maybe even in one or several weeks. Whether it is because something else intervened, one has become ill, or you had to suddenly take a holiday ;-)

Whatever may be the reason: one is then faced with the task of moving all such appointments and / or tasks - and that can sometimes be 50 or more - to other days or weeks. I for instance use the calendar for tasks such as "Call Ronny" or "Make appointment with orthopedic surgeon”. On some days I therefore move 20 or more tasks from one day to another.
I do not know a PIM, which could solve this problem quickly and elegantly. On the contrary, for example in Outlook you have to move any appointment manually with the mouse to the target day.

If you're like me and you also want to get rid of such tedious work, there is now a solution: TrineFix-Appointment-and-task-mover

Step-by-step instructions

First of all: Do not worry. This guide looks very long and does therefore may feel as if the program were difficult to use. This is not the case. I use it almost daily for several weeks now. It takes only seconds for me to move my appointments from one day to the other. I describe everything in such detail, because among our readers are certainly some for which the work with a Windows Mobile smart phone is still new territory.

As a proof I'll show you a short video in which I move all 33 appointments from August 2nd & 3rd to August 4th & 5th. Length: 20 seconds ! (I can do it in 10 sec., but only if I don't have to make a video) ;)

In the next video you'll see what happens after connecting the phone to the PC and have everything synchronised.

Impressed ?
GOOD

First steps

The first and most important step is to review the " preferences " taken by the program, and after that to set the options you prefer.

Please have first a look at the regional settings: Here check if your language has been set correctly. And do the same for the correct "Date and time format".

The next two settings affect the look and feel. Again: just choose everything to your liking.
Now we come to the first two settings, already mentioned above. These are important for the move. We therefore want to look more closely:

The first ("Item types") is self-explanatory: here you define what you want to move normally. You will probably choose "Both".

The next point, "Movement type" is the most important. Rather than repeat the text you see on the screen of your smart phone, I prefer to take two examples:

Example 1 : Imagine, you had been sick for a week, and now want to move all the appointments (and / or tasks) to the next week. Then select "Hours/days/weeks." In this case the program calculates the day on which the shift-action will begin. As an example it will move everything from week 40 to week 41 (e.g. from Oct. 4th to Oct. 11th and from Oct. 5th to Oct. 12th etc., etc.)

Example 2 : You had been sick for 12 days and now want to move all appointments (and / or Tasks) onto the date of your choice (e.g. when you start working again). Then select "Date" because this time YOU want to choose the start-day. In this case, the program will move all appointments/tasks which occurred during your illness to the date you will chose. For example: You were ill from Oct. 4th to Oct. 15th 2010, and you want to start working again on Oct. 18th. In this case YOU will chose Oct. 18th as the start date and the program will move everything to Oct. 18th and all subsequent 11 days.

After you have taken the right selection, click on "Back" and then on "START".

For this guide I take the dates of the above examples. You can either use your own OR mine and then - at the end - stop BEFORE the actual move, so you do not move your own GENUINE dates.

For the first example I presume that you have chosen "Hours/days/weeks”.

Please choose the first day that you want to move: Here Oct. 4th 2010. If October is not displayed, click on the displayed month and select it from the list. Likewise do the same for the year. Then click on the fourth, which is a Monday in our example.

The program will then switch automatically to the next prompt. Choose again the October 2010, and then click on the 8th or the 10th of October (depending on whether you want to include the weekend or not). Thus you have chosen, which days are to be moved.

The program now displays the next screen, where you can choose how many weeks (our example), or hours or days are to be moved. Click here on "weeks". On top of the screen a "1" is shown. This number indicates how many hours/days/weeks are to be moved. Since we want to move only 1 week, we don’t change the figure.

NOTE : You can, if necessary, move dates backwards . In that case click on the left arrow. Accordingly, onto the right one if you want to move more than 1 week into the future.

If everything is set correctly, click the button " Preview ". This is important for you to check everything again. Do not worry, yet nothing is moved. Check everything now. If you see that one or two dates are better not to be moved, uncheck it. When you are satisfied, click "Move". And bang, you are finished. The program will prompt, how many items had been moved, and that's it. Now, when you synchronize your smart phone with your computer (or the "Cloud" or the Web), you have everything on the same state.

Now to Example 2: Here the task was to move everything to one day of your choice. Please check this in the prefs-section. ("preferences", "movement type", "date", "Back").

If you click on "START", you see the same screens as above. Select the first date to be moved (in our example, the 4th of October) and click on the next screen (End-Date) on Oct 15th, because you had been sick for 12 days and therefore want to move these 12 days.

On the next screen which appears automatically, YOU choose the first day onto which everything will be moved. In this example, October 18th . The program will then move all items from Oct. 4th to Oct. 18th , and from Oct. 5th to Oct. 19th and so on , once you give your ok.

Now a short Example No. 3 : This time you want to move all appointments from today to tomorrow. So only 1 day to move to another. (To keep stringent with our example : move all appointments / tasks from Oct. 4th to Oct. 5th .)

Remember: if you want to move more than 1 day, take the first day as the start-date and the last day as the end-date. In this third example, start-date and end-date are the same. So you need to click on the same date for the start date and for the end date. In this case twice on Oct. 4th.

After you’ve done that, you can enter the 5th of October as the date the items should be moved to. From then on, everything is as written above.

Thank you for reading that much. Hope it helped.

If you have any questions, ask them here in the forum. Ronny and I will gladly answer them.

P.S. Ronny has put a video on this forum (Title: "YouTube video with a walkthrough of the application") which explains the whole stuff again.

P.S.II: Google Translate has (partly) been a great help in translating this text from German to English. But I am certain that it is not error free. Please don’t hesitate to inform me about necessary changes. Thank you.
